The school board election is Tuesday, November 4, 2025. There will be three full-term (4-year) open seats for this year's election, with each term expiring in November of 2029.
Individuals interested in seeking the office of school board director must follow these steps:
Turn in both the Nomination Petition for Non-Partisan Office and Affidavit of Candidacy. These papers and a candidate's guide are available for pick up through the Board Secretary at the Educational Service Center, located at 627 4th St. in Sioux City, or on the Iowa Secretary of State website.
The Affidavit of Candidacy requires a notary.
The header of the Nomination Petition for Non-Partisan Office ("Candidate Information" box at the top of the page) must be filled out correctly on each page BEFORE signatures are received. There are only 15 lines for signatures on one page. A candidate running for the SCCSD school board must receive a minimum of 50 signatures.
Tip: Fill out the header of one page of the nomination petition form and make copies so the heading is already filled out before receiving the required number of signatures. The paperwork submitted could be rejected if it is not filled out correctly.
A person may gather signatures now, however, the Nomination Petition for Non-Partisan Office and Affidavit of Candidacy cannot be turned in until the filing period of Monday, August 25, 2025 through Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 5 pm.
The filing paperwork can be turned into the Board Secretary at the Educational Service Center, located at 627 4th St. in Sioux City, Iowa, 51101.
