Just a reminder #SCCSD families: there will be no school tomorrow, November 5 for staff professional development.
There is NO SCHOOL for students tomorrow, Tuesday, 11/5. Also, on Wednesday, 11/6, we will have Fall Picture Retakes starting at 8:30 am. If your student was not here on the first picture day, we already have their name on a list for pictures. However, if you would like retakes of your student's pictures, you must contact the office to get on the list for retakes. Thank you

As the weather gets colder, more families are using the car drop-off line instead of walking. To help keep things running smoothly and safely, please keep these reminders in mind:
Quick Drop-Off Zone: The quick drop-off zone is located at the back of the parking lot, farthest from the school. Parents should remain in the car, and drop-off should only take a few seconds.
Parking for Extended Drop-Off: If you need more time or would like to watch your child walk into the school, please park in one of the available spots in the front or back of the lot.
Safety at the Crosswalk: The crosswalk runs through the middle of the parking lot, extending from the back to the front. Please stop and watch for children crossing at all times.
Bus-Only Zone: The front of the school is reserved for school buses only from 8:00 a.m. to 8:40 a.m. during morning arrival. In the afternoon, this area is also reserved for buses until all buses have departed.

Hello Parents! With fall festivities tomorrow, please remember that if your child’s teacher is allowing costumes (up to teacher's discretion), they should not include masks, face paint, fake blood, or any type of weapon (even toy ones). Thank you for helping us keep the celebration safe and fun for all!

Just a quick reminder to pack an extra set of clothes in your child's backpack, just in case of little accidents. We don’t have spares at school. If you have any extra stretchy pants (especially in smaller sizes) to donate, we’d be super grateful!

Good Morning Unity Families! The weather is definitely changing and the mornings have been extremely cold for our students during walk and talk and morning recess. Please make sure you are sending your students dressed in appropriate winter clothing including coats, hats, and mittens. According to district policy, all students will be outside for all recesses as well as morning walk and talk unless the temperature is BELOW a real feel or a "feels like" temperature of 15 degrees! Thank you!
Good Morning! We are providing a nacho bar lunch for teachers on the full day of Conferences on Thursday, October 24th. Just a reminder that this Sunday, October 13th, is our annual Trunk or Treat and Touch A Truck Event. It will be held from 3:00-5:00 pm. in the Unity parking lot. If you are handing out candy, please plan on approximately 500 pieces of candy. Set up will be from 2:00-2:45 pm. Cars handing out candy will not be allowed into the parking lot later than 2:45. It should be a great afternoon for Halloween fun! Hope to see you all there!

Good Morning Unity Knights! Just a reminder that Unity's Annual Trunk or Treat and Touch a Truck Event will be held this Sunday, 10/13, from 3-5 pm in the Unity parking lot. If you are able to volunteer to hand out candy from the trunk of your car, please call us at 712-279-6839 to sign up!
The Sticky Stuff Fundraiser pick-up is TODAY from 3:00-6:00 pm in the Unity cafeteria! If your student sold items, please make sure that someone is here during these hours to pick up the items! The PTO meeting is tonight at 6:00 pm in the Unity library, please join us if you are interested in helping plan events and activities for this school year. #SCCSD families, your student's attendance in school matters! Chronic absenteeism is not just a matter of missed days; it's a barrier to success. If your child will not be in school, it's incredibly important to call your child’s school to report the reason for an absence. This information will be used to help your child's school determine the level of support your student needs to succeed.
We encourage families to familiarize themselves with the new chronic absenteeism laws and policies in place. Students are considered absent when they are not in school, including time missed for general illnesses, doctor’s appointments, club sports, and family vacations. We want your child to be successful. While rare exceptions can occur, missing nine or more days in a semester is atypical. Absences for participation in school-sanctioned events do not count toward chronic absenteeism. For questions related to absences, please contact your child's school.
