🦃 It's almost Thanksgiving break! 🦃 This Wednesday, November 27, all SCCSD schools will dismiss two hours early. There will be no school on Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29. School will resume on Monday, December 2. Stay safe and stay warm this week! 🌟

Another successful 5th on 4th! This week: Leeds Elementary Future Stars. Students learned about Agriculture, proper care for pets, plating skills and culinary, Pipetting and using a microscope to examine our locals waters! We'll see you again in four years 5th graders!

Thank you Empirical for offering some post graduation opportunities for our Hopkins students.

Our Misty Cadets are hard at work getting ready for our Veteran's Day Ceremony at Sgt. Floyd Monument today at 11 am. If you can't make it, we have cadets guarding the monument all day. Stop up and Veterans, thank you for your service!

Our Junior Construction pathway students are using heavy equipment and placing trusses on our second project house. It doesn't get any more authentic than this!

#SCCSD families, your student's attendance in school matters! Chronic absenteeism is not just a matter of missed days; it's a barrier to success. If your child will not be in school, it's incredibly important to call your child’s school to report the reason for an absence. This information will be used to help your child's school determine the level of support your student needs to succeed. We encourage families to familiarize themselves with the new chronic absenteeism laws and policies in place. Students are considered absent when they are not in school, including time missed for general illnesses, doctor’s appointments, club sports, and family vacations. We want your child to be successful. While rare exceptions can occur, missing nine or more days in a semester is atypical. Absences for participation in school-sanctioned events do not count toward chronic absenteeism. For questions related to absences, please contact your child's school. We're committed to being a partner in your child's success and celebrate them for being in class, on time, every day!

We decided to have the Career Academy Fun Friday today. Thanks to Liliana and Ariana, we couldn't have had a better start! They sang karaoke to Dancing Queen and received a standing ovation! Nicely done ladies!

Morningside University paid us a visit today with their Ag. Education students. We look forward to our continued partnership!

Thank you to the Army Guard for coming out today to speak with our Health Science students about their career options with the military!

We want to remind our families that we take every threat seriously, and each threat is investigated. Students should always report any threat they see or hear, not share or repost threats of any kind. Reposting or sharing a threat could lead to disciplinary actions at the school level and possibly criminal charges. How to report a threat: ▶️ Contact your school principals/administrators with safety concerns, no matter how small ▶️ After hours when you are unable to reach a principal, call police directly ▶️ Call 911 in an emergency or for a crime in progress ▶️ Send information to Safe and Sound Iowa, a threat reporting tool for the state of Iowa With help from our community and families, we can keep school safe for all students.
